A Visit to Shin Yang Piasau Slipways Sdn Bhd

20-09-2008, a visit to the shin yang slipways that located at kuala baram. organized by the curtin engineering club.

we departed from campus at 8.00 am and arrived at the shin yang slipways at 8.30 am.
the scehdule:
8.30- arriving of us the curtin hopeless students.
8.30-9.00- briefing given by captain ting
9.00-10.30- site visit
10.30-11.00- light refreshment

after that, we were divided into 4 teams. i was in team 2, was was lead by two experienced engineer if shin yang company, jasin and jongBK....

first, we were brought to see the design team. the design team will decide the design of a ship and do the modification. and i can see how they design the ship, very very the complicated lo. you see the computer monitor.

then we were brought to see the NC cutting machine. the function of this machine is cutting the steel.

then we went to the pipe bending area. this is the place that pipes were bended. the small pipes will be bended manually and the big pipes will be bended by using the pipe bending machine.

then went to the ship maintenance and building area. we saw how people build the the ship.

this thingy can pull a 5000 tones ships onto the slipways. don play play hor

then we went on a ship that 90% done, call LAURA III......

we got to see how engineer live in a ship. not bad the facilities on the ship.
this is the cabin for the engineer that works on the ship.
got a desk, a bedroom and a cupboard. my friend, kamcheng said the bed looks more like a coffin. -____-

and if u are a chef engineer, u will get one extra to show your identity. deng deng deng deng...

the extra is a personal toilet in the cabin. to show your position as CHEF engineer but not just engineer.

then we proceed to the control room on the ship.

then the light refreshment that (Mr teh had been waiting for this since the visit started... keep asking me when can eat...), the food not bad, a big thank you to shin yang. we really enjoy the visit especially the FREE and nice food. :)

curtin carnival

its curtin carnival, a very rojak carnival. what i wan to say is very "o-ji-ba-la"

of course me, a student that always active in school events, did go to the carnival. although this event is open for every one, but most of the visitors were current curtin students, very very the less outsiders.

i was late for the opening ceremony of carnival. miss the chance to see the eng dao kia, joseph chan kang nan wearing the "youth carnival " shirt that make him look like a dude.

1st of all, it is a must to introduce this stall,

curtin engineering club stall which is selling chicken wing (RM 3, its worth becasue nice ma), sandwich (RM 2 per unit), tomyap fish ball (RM 2 for 3 fish ball and tomyap soup), longan juice ( RM 1 per glass, top selling, probably it is made by danny wong and cutec is the only stall that got sell longan juice), liadn teh ( RM 1 per glass, thec liang teh looks really like air tebu), and grass jelly (RM 1 per glass, erm no comment)..... ok thats all, do i miss any food or drinks?

go to the activities,

fish-catching at photography club's stall. RM 2 for 2 tries, use a "duno-wat"thingy that made by paper to catch the fish inside the pond.

no need catch lo, the fish already attracted by the cute ang moh baby.

and this one, banner painting campaign,

got it? the actual purpose of this campaign is to SHOW OUR LOVE TO MALAYSIA, but you see this, some people really duno-how-to-say lo, instead of painting to show how one loves the nations, someone painted this.....

the food part, according to my observation, VCF stall is most "laku"one. most of the people came to VCF stall because of the combo set (RM 6). the combo set is not bad, got a drinks plus a fried egg that got ham and cheese inside.

now come to the o-ji-ba-la part,
1st, tattoo
got a stall that make tattoo for people. duno the tattoo stall is from which club. at the same stall, got this too. earing on any part of your boby, tummy, besides your eyes, nose, or even boobs. can give it a try if u believe their skill wont hurt you.
besides that, i saw this too, 算命 lagi, carnival got service like fortune telling . -___-|||
and what more kik is... this fortune telling serive is given by cheerleader club, and all the cheerleaders were wearing their uniform on the carnival. i really cant imagine how a cheerleader gal that just around 20 year old be fortune teller.

this one lagi pro, you see.
tarot reading. it is something similar to fortune telling. using card name tarot card then it can give prediction about you in different aspects like career, love and future. why i say it pro because all these are done in a private room. more respect privacy, pro leh.
see. the deisgn of the entrance can rise up people's curiousity also.

the event went to the climax when this performance on the stage start.
Mr Malaysia 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, and 08. duno they really Mr malaysia or not. they perform on the stage.
and future Mr Malaysia....
and there is a session to let any visitor challenge the body builder, Mr Malaysia.
